As we all know, SEO starts with Keywords research. So the next question is “How do I find the best keywords for SEO?”
There are many ways you can do this research. But in this post, I’ll show you how to find the best keywords at zero cost without any fancy expensive SEO tools.
Here’s how I use Google search autocomplete to find content ideas and keywords, and this has worked really well for me till date to generate content.
Let me go back to one of the fintech products which I worked in the past, which is “mutual funds.”
Here’s how I do it:
💡 Type a big keyword and then the letter “a”…
Then, I’ll try with a few other letters of the alphabet.
Typing “b”, and “c”, “d” and “e” etc.:
Okay, I know you are bored by this time, enough of learning alphabets.
💡 The second thing I’ll do is place my “cursor” or “asterisk” in the middle of a query:
If you put a * between two words, Google will find suggestions that might connect the two.
Also works at the end and the beginning of a query. It’s a game-changer. I do this all the time.
After doing this for about 5-10 minutes, You’ll have more insights on what people are searching for than any fancy keyword tool could give you.
Then pick one idea and get to work… That’s it!
And you can start typing questions like “why”, “how”, “when”, etc.: this will give you a bunch of queries which people are googling.
You can use this to find new content ideas. Then start looking a bit at volume with Keywords Everywhere, what other sites are doing, etc. and pick one idea and create content for it and validate if you can rank for it.
I do this for years, and it works really well (especially at the beginning of a project). A similar approach is to look at the « Related searches » at the bottom of the results page.
